UV-Resistant Velvet Upholstery Fabric MORATO: B2B Buyer's Guide

MORATO Velvet Fabric: High UV Resistant Upholstery Fabric for Residential and Contract Furniture

MORATO is a textured velvet upholstery fabric made from 100% polyester. With a weight of 445 gsm and a width of 142 cm / 56 in, it is developed for furniture applications where a substantial fabric weight, upholstery performance, and resistance to sunlight exposure are required.

Suitable for both residential and contract furniture, MORATO can be used for sofa upholstery, accent chairs, cushions, and headboards. Its high UV resistance, UV-resistant performance, and pet-friendly characteristics make it applicable to furniture placed in areas with regular or long-term sunlight exposure.

Textured Velvet Construction for Upholstery

As a 100% polyester velvet fabric, MORATO combines a textured surface with a 445 gsm weight. This construction is suitable for upholstered furniture products, including sofas, chairs, cushions, and headboards.

The fabric width is 142 cm / 56 in, with a width tolerance of +/-5%. This provides a defined specification for furniture upholstery production and fabric-cover applications.

MORATO is OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100 certified and REACH compliant. It is intended for residential furniture as well as contract furniture projects.

High UV Resistance Through Masterbatch Coloring

MORATO is produced with a high UV-resistant process based on masterbatch coloring. Anti-UV ingredients are added directly into the yarns, rather than being applied only to the fabric surface.

After 800 to 1000 hours of sunlight exposure testing, the fabric retains good light fastness. Its light-fastness results are listed according to two standards:

  • Under the American AATCC standard, where Grade 5 is the maximum, light fastness reaches Grade 3.5-4/5.
  • Under the European ISO standard, where Grade 8 is the maximum, light fastness reaches Grade 4.5-5/8.

These results support the use of MORATO in upholstery applications exposed to strong or prolonged sunlight. The fabric is intended to maintain stable color under long-term light exposure and is suitable for spaces where direct sunlight is a regular condition.

Bleach-Cleanable with Chlorine Resistance

MORATO supports bleach cleaning and can be cleaned with 84 disinfectant or chlorine-containing water without fading. This provides an option for deep cleaning in daily upholstery use.

The fabric offers resistance to both sunlight fading and chlorine bleaching. For removable upholstery covers, cushions, and other fabric-covered furniture products, this combination helps address situations where regular cleaning and exposure to sunlight occur together.

Low Washing Shrinkage for Removable Covers

The washing shrinkage rate of MORATO is below 3%. The fabric can be repeatedly machine washed without severe shrinkage or deformation.

After washing and air-drying, fabric covers can be reinstalled on sofas. This makes MORATO relevant for sofa covers and other removable upholstery products where maintaining the original fit after washing is important.

Applications for High-Sunlight Interiors and Outdoor Use

MORATO is suitable for a range of upholstered furniture and decorative applications:

  • Sofa upholstery
  • Accent chairs
  • Cushions
  • Headboards
  • Outdoor throw pillows
  • Sunroom decoration
  • Upholstery beside floor-to-ceiling windows
  • Upholstery for enclosed balconies exposed to sunlight throughout the year

For interiors with large windows, sunrooms, or enclosed balconies, fabric color stability can be an important product consideration. MORATO is designed for these applications, where furniture may receive strong light for extended periods.
