Questions Distributors Ask Before Adding a Mill
Before a European fabric distributor adds a China mill to a range, the useful questions are operational. Confirm where weaving, dyeing, coating and laboratory assessment take place. Confirm the quantity route: 1,400 m per color for standard production, or the separate 300 m Ready To Ship program. Confirm coating or PSAF review on the selected quality, and which named test or certificate applies. Branding and sample arrangements stay confirm-on-inquiry. This article is that checklist. It is not a ranking of mills.

What questions do fabric distributors ask before adding a new mill?
A range file is shorter than a factory brochure. Distributors usually need to know whether the mill can repeat a construction, hold a color, and document a finish. They also need to know the floor quantity before they promise a customer a card. Langsum answers those items on the wholesale page and on Solutions. This article extracts the same facts so a range manager can quote them.
Ask for process location first. An in-house mill can name weaving, dyeing, coating and laboratory assessment. A trading desk often cannot. Then ask which quantity route applies to the constructions you want to list. Do not mix a 300 m Ready To Ship design with a made-to-order quality in the same line sheet without saying so.
What should a European distributor confirm before listing the mill?
Western Europe is Langsum's primary market. That does not invent named customers or a ranking. It does mean the first listing brief should include target market, required finish or named test, and whether the construction already exists. If a change is required, move the item to custom development instead of forcing it onto a stock card.
| Range question | Why it blocks a listing | What this mill can state |
|---|---|---|
| Where are weaving, dyeing, coating and laboratory assessment done? | A range needs a mill file, not a mailbox | Langsum states these steps in-house |
| What is the quantity floor per color? | The card cannot promise a number the mill will not run | 1,400 m per color, or selected 300 m Ready To Ship |
| Can coating or PSAF be reviewed on this quality? | A finish slogan on a line sheet creates later returns | Multiple coatings and PSAF, confirmed per selected quality |
| Which named certificate or test applies? | A catalog badge is not a compliance file | OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100 per selected quality; other tests per quality |
| Is this an existing design or a change? | A change is not a reprint of the current card | Two live routes; branding confirmed per program |
How should the mill-add brief be written?
Name the constructions and colors you want to add. Name quantity per color. Say whether Ready To Ship or standard production is intended. Name the coating or test the market will ask for. Then send expected timing. Sample arrangements stay confirm-on-inquiry. Do not ask which supplier is best for Europe. That question has no claim-safe answer on this site.
Furniture factories that only need selected stock should start on Ready To Ship rather than a full range-add file. A distributor building a repeating card should stay on wholesale.

What belongs in the WhatsApp inquiry?
Send constructions, colors, quantity route, coating or named test, target market, and timing. The mill can answer that brief. A brief that only asks for a catalog cannot.
Use a WhatsApp inquiry. The useful reply is route confirmation and a sample discussion for the selected qualities.
