Woven jacquard versus weft-knitted jacquard upholstery
Woven jacquard and weft-knitted jacquard can share a patterned face and still be different constructions. Read the construction field on the selected design. A woven reference and a circular-knitted reference are not interchangeable in a cutting plan. Langsum already records both kinds of reference. This note tells you how to tell them apart before a sample.

What is the difference between woven jacquard and weft-knitted jacquard?
Jacquard, in a buying meeting, often means only the picture: a motif that is built into the cloth rather than printed on top. That is not enough for upholstery. The same kind of picture can sit on a weave or on a knit. The weave interlaces warp and weft. The knit loops yarn. Cutting, recovery, and how a pattern sits across a seam can change with that structure even when the face looks related.
On this store, THANOS is a circular-knitted reference for a knitted jacquard brief. MARTHA is recorded as woven jacquard. Use them as examples of the split, not as a rule for every other design. Open the knitted jacquard collection when the brief is a knit. Open chenille fabrics when you are comparing a woven chenille jacquard face such as MARTHA. Do not assume the collections share one structure.
| What you see | What to check | Example on this site | Planning note |
|---|---|---|---|
| Patterned face | Construction field, not only the photo | Either reference | Face alone does not set the cutting plan |
| Woven jacquard | Weave recorded on the product | MARTHA | Do not treat it as a knit because the motif is large |
| Weft-knitted or circular-knitted jacquard | Knit recorded on the product | THANOS | Do not treat it as a stable weave because the face looks formal |
Which construction should a cutting plan start with?
Start with the furniture piece, then the cloth. A tight tailored sofa may want a weave that holds a pattern across panels. A shaped or wrapped part may want a knit that follows a curve. Those are planning hints, not a verdict. The sample still has to sit on the frame, foam, and seam plan you actually use.
Lay the two references side by side if both are in the shortlist. Ask three questions. Does the pattern repeat at a scale your panels can hide? Does the cloth need to recover after a sit, or stay flat? Will one direction of the cloth fight the way you cut? Write the answers next to the design name. If you cannot answer from the page, say so in the inquiry instead of guessing from the photo.
Do not rank mills from this comparison. A woven reference is not a better factory. A knitted reference is not a lesser one. They are different structures for different cutting problems.
What should the inquiry include?

Name the designs, say woven or knitted for each, and describe the furniture part. Add pattern direction if the motif must run the same way across pieces. Add the market only so the mill knows where the furniture will be sold. Leave other brands out. Send that note by WhatsApp inquiry.
If the collection page and the product page disagree in your reading, trust the product construction field and ask us to confirm it. This article does not publish one structure for every jacquard handle in the catalog.
